First year Ph.D. student and new SPS Lab member Katie Coscia won a prize for her 3 Minute Thesis! She took home 3rd prize in the doctoral division for the 3 Minute Thesis @ Middle Tennessee competition hosted by the MTSU College of Basic and Applied Sciences! Her entry explained her entire research project on the perceived conflict between religion and evolution in undergraduate biology students in just under 3 minutes! Way to go, Katie!




SPS lab Ph.D. student Rahmi Aini attended the 2022 National Association of Biology Teachers conference in Indianapolis this week and gave a talk on "Patterns for managing potential conflict between religion and evolution among Muslim undergraduate biology students" and won an award for the graduate student research poster competition for her poster on "Student reports of Religious Cultural Competence in Evolution Education (ReCCEE) is associated with gains in students’ evolution acceptance"
