SPS Lab Ph.D. student Rahmi Aini attended the National Association for Research in Science Teaching's annual conference in Chicago this week to present her research! She gave a talk titled "Patterns for managing potential conflict between religion and evolution among Muslim undergraduate biology students". Great job, Rahmi!

First-year Ph.D. student and SPS Lab member Katie Coscia attended the Association of Southeastern Biologists 2023 Annual Meeting in Winston-Salem this weekend to present her research! She presented a poster on the perceived conflict between religion and evolution in undergraduate biology students. Awesome job, Katie!





The SPS lab headed to Tennessee Tech to present at the Southeastern STEM Education Research conference! Rahmi gave a talk on Muslim students' perceptions of evolution and Liz gave a talk on undergraduate science students' science communication training. Madison gave her first poster on motivated reasoning about evolution among undergraduate biology students and Katie presented a poster on religious and non-religious students' perceived conflict between religion and evolution! Finally, Casey and Alexa presented new research from the lab on how instructors' religious and non-religious identities might influence the effectiveness of their evolution instruction.
