SPS lab members presented their research at MTSU scholar's week and they all won awards for their presentations!
Rahmi Aini presented her research on "Patterns for managing conflict between religion and evolution among Muslim undergraduate biology students" and took home 1st place in the College of Basic and Applied Sciences poster competition and 3rd place in the university-wide competition!
Madeline Aadnes presented her research on "Undergraduate Students' Science Communication about Climate Change" and took home 2nd place in the university-wide competition!
Chloe Bowen presented her research on "Exploring Black Undergraduate Biology Students’ Experiences Learning about COVID19 and Communicating about COVID19 to their Communities" and took home 3rd place in the College of Basic and Applied Sciences poster competition!
We are excited to be presenting our work at the national American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) 2022 meeting! Liz is presenting a talk on evidence for reducing conflict between religion and science and discussing the work a panel discussion. Chloe is presenting a poster on Black Christian graduate student experiences in biology, Mariana is presenting work on Undergraduate Students' Science Communication about COVID19, and Baylee is presenting her work on how religious, political, and gender identity influences perceptions of bioethics topics.
